Product Overview
Portlio is an automation-first developer portfolio builder. By linking directly to the GitHub API, we eliminate the friction of portfolio building and maintenance. Instead of writing custom HTML, managing server templates, or manually copy-pasting your latest repositories, Portlio converts your GitHub work history into a clean portfolio.
Once connected, the lightweight Portlio GitHub App watches your profile for commit pushes and project creations. It automatically pulls project updates, updates descriptions, re-generates static content, and publishes the output directly to GitHub Pages, Vercel, or Netlify.

How does the automatic update feature work?
When you connect your GitHub account and install the Portlio GitHub App, it configures webhooks on your profile. Every time you push a commit or create a repository, GitHub notifies our server. Portlio automatically pulls the updates, re-renders your portfolio pages, and deploys the new static files to your hosting target in the background.
Will Portlio ever read or modify my private repositories?
No. Portlio only requests read access to public user data and public repositories. We never ask for private repository scopes, meaning your private source code remains 100% secure and invisible to our system.
How long does a deployment take to show up live?
The build and static render on Portlio take under 5 seconds. However, GitHub Pages usually takes 1 to 3 minutes to compile and distribute your website across their CDN. If you get a 404 immediately after publishing, wait a minute and refresh the page.
Can I connect a custom domain to my portfolio?
Yes, custom domain mapping is supported in our roadmap and configuration dashboards. You can configure DNS CNAME/A records to point your custom domain directly to your deployed GitHub Pages, Vercel, or Netlify url.
How does the automated screenshot capture work?
For Premium users, we run a background screenshot service powered by headless Chrome. When you supply a live demo URL for your project, our service visits the page, captures a high-resolution screenshot, optimizes it to WebP format to save space, and attaches it to your portfolio project card. You can also crop it manually using our built-in canvas cropper.
What is Razorpay used for in Portlio?
Razorpay is our official secure payment gateway. It handles checkouts for our Pro and Premium memberships. Transactions are verified server-side using cryptographic webhook checkbacks to ensure instant plan upgrades.
